New Zealand agritech startup Scanabull has raised NZD $1.1 million in a round led by Sprout Agritech, with support from Enterprise Angels and Callaghan Innovation’s Deep Tech Incubator. The company develops a 3D scanning system that estimates cattle weight using an iPhone LiDAR sensor or a dedicated Scanabull camera, providing fast, accurate measurements without traditional scales.
Founded in 2024, Scanabull is working with farmers and meat processors, including Silver Fern Farms, to improve weight visibility, reduce handling stress, and support data-driven decision-making across the supply chain. Its AI models, trained on over 100,000 animal data points, achieve 93%+ accuracy and process data directly on-device, making it ideal for farms with poor connectivity.
The first products include the WeighApp for mobile scans and the Weigh Point system for automated paddock weighing, helping track growth trends and optimize farm and market decisions. The latest funding will expand AI development and support international scaling.
